Indoor Space

Ironwood Montessori Academy (IMA) in Richmond boasts a spacious and well-designed indoor space that caters to the needs of children at various stages of early development. The academy houses five classrooms in total, with three specifically tailored for early childhood classes (walker to 3 years old) and two for Casa classes (2.5 to 6 years old). This arrangement allows IMA to comfortably accommodate up to 77 children, providing each one with ample space to explore, learn, and grow.

The design and layout of each classroom at IMA embody the principles of Maria Montessori’s revolutionary education approach. The classrooms are not only aesthetically pleasing and inviting but are also thoughtfully arranged to stimulate learning and foster independence. Safety and quality are paramount in our classroom design, with all furniture specifically chosen to accommodate children’s height and growth. Our commitment to these principles ensures that our indoor spaces are not just functional, but also nurturing environments that encourage curiosity and a love for learning.

Outdoor Space

Ironwood Montessori Academy (IMA) in Richmond understands the importance of outdoor play in a child’s development and offers a generous 6,000 sq. ft. open play area. This expansive space is divided into four sections, each tailored to different age groups, ensuring all children have a safe and age-appropriate area to run, explore, and enjoy the fresh air.

In addition to the play areas, IMA has a specially designed garden where children can interact closely with nature. This provides a hands-on learning experience, as children get to plant and care for flowers and vegetables. This garden not only allows children to appreciate the beauty and wonder of nature but also instills in them a sense of responsibility and respect for the environment. At Ironwood Montessori Academy, we believe in providing a balanced learning environment that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit of each child.
